Start here if you are opening the new Workflow Editor for the first time. Learn where to select an instruction, edit it, and preview the result.
Your beginner path
Create and preview your first workflow: build two instructions and connect them.
Add instructions, media, and data fields: collect a required answer.
Organize and connect workflow steps: insert another instruction or design a branch.
Preview and test before release: check missing answers, paths, and expected results.
Publish and manage workflow versions: release a tested draft when it is ready.
Find the three main areas
Example workflow in read-only mode. The header is above the workflow pane and the selected step’s settings; editing controls are disabled in this capture.
Header: workflow name, version, save status, Undo, History, Redo, Preview, and Publish.
Workflow pane: choose Tree for the outline or Flow for the connections. Select a step to edit it.
Step settings: Basic Info contains the operator’s title and instructions. Other tabs hold fields, routing, signatures, and additional settings.
Try one change
Open a practice workflow that you are allowed to edit, then select one regular step.
Open Basic Info and inspect its Title and Description. These are the instructions the operator reads.
After an edit, wait for Saved in the header.
Choose Preview. If offered a starting point, start from the root to follow the whole process.
A chapter groups instructions. A connection determines where the operator goes next. Moving a step on screen does not connect it to another step.
Find workflow-wide settings
Open the header’s More (⋮) menu for Workflow Settings, Versions, Variables, BOM, Workflow References, Import Nodes from Workflow, Import from Stepgen, and View as SVG. Some actions depend on your permissions and environment.
Saving and publishing are separate
Saved means the draft edit reached the server. Publish starts validation and release. Preview the paths before releasing. Use an appropriate test release and controlled real test sessions to check saved records, signing, and integrations.
Terms to know
Workflow: the instructions and rules that define a job.
Step: one instruction within the workflow, with settings as needed.
Draft: a version being edited and checked before release.
Session: one execution of the workflow by an operator.
Part number: an item identifier in the system; use a test Part if the exercise requires one.
Already familiar with the old editor?
Start with the old-to-new feature map. Use the tab guide to locate a step setting. When moving an existing process, pay particular attention to routing versus Show/Hide and saving versus publishing.
