Before starting, complete your first workflow exercise and keep its two steps in an editable draft. By the end, verify that the second step cannot be completed without an answer.
Use Basic Info for what an operator reads and Enrichment for what they enter. This exercise adds a required Workspace ready? answer to the second step of your practice workflow.
Write the instruction
Select Review the workspace and open Basic Info.
Keep its Title clear. In Description, write: Confirm that the workspace is clear and the materials are ready. Record your answer below.
If a picture helps identify the required setup, use Media & Attachments → Upload to select it. Inspect the uploaded media in Preview.
The internal Editor Title can differ from the operator Title. Once edited independently, do not assume that changing one also changes the other.
Add a required answer
Open Enrichment → Data Collection Fields and click Create New.
Name the field Workspace ready? and choose Select for a fixed list of answers.
Enter the options Yes and No. Leave the answer unselected by default.
Enable Required, save the field dialog, then wait for the workflow’s Saved status.
Required asks the operator to supply an answer. It does not mean that Yes is the only acceptable answer. To send No to a different instruction, configure a route condition separately.
Enrichment groups the attached fields and their Required markers. This read-only measurement example differs from the Workspace ready? exercise.
Choose a field for another task
Text Input / Text: a short reference or identifier.
Text Input / Number: a numeric measurement; include units in its title or help.
Textarea: a longer explanation.
Radio or Select: a controlled set of choices.
File Upload: a file supplied by the operator. This differs from media attached to the instruction by its author.
Use From Database to select an existing shared field. Read any in-use warning before changing a shared definition. Removing it from a step and deleting its shared definition are different actions.
Acceptance limits and allowed input
For a fictional acceptable range of 4.8–5.2 V, allow a rejected reading such as 4.7 V to be recorded, then route it to review. Field minimum/maximum settings restrict entry; route conditions decide what happens with the entered value.
Check the result
Preview from the root. At Review the workspace, try completing the step without an answer; the required field should block completion.
Start again and select Yes, then test No in a separate run. With no branch configured, both supplied answers satisfy the required-input check.
Inspect the media and field order. For saved-record verification, use an appropriate test release and real test session, then inspect the captured answer in its record.
