Configure Serial Number Templates for Parts in Next Plus

This tutorial shows how to configure templates to generate serial numbers for parts. You will learn how to set up serial number management and customize serial patterns in Next Plus.

1. Navigate and Edit Part

Click on Modeling Parts and navigate to the Parts menu. Select the part for which you want to create and generate serial numbers, then click edit.

2. Enable Serial Number Management

A part must have the managed by serial number checkbox checked. Select the generate serials checkbox to enable serial number generation.

3. Set Initial Serial Number

The numerator is the initial number from which serial counting starts. For example, set it to 100.

4. Configure Padding Zeros

Padding zeros lets you configure how many zeros will be added inside the number. For example, set it to 5.

5. Define Serial Pattern Text

The pattern allows you to use any combination of letters or dynamic fields. For example, start the serial with the text CERT dash.

7. Enter Serial Pattern

Enter the serial pattern using placeholders for year and auto number to generate serials dynamically.

8. Preview Serial Number Outcome

At the bottom, you will see the outcome for the first serial. It includes five letters for padding, the numerator, and the pattern.

9. Save Serial Configuration

Click Save to apply and store your serial number configuration settings.
