The Licensing screen provides administrators with a complete overview of the system’s licensing status. From this screen, you can review system details, understand how licensed resources are being used, control enforcement behaviour, and track license expiration.

This screen is intended for administrators and helps ensure the system operates within licensed limits.

System Details

Field

Description

System Version

Shows the currently installed version of the Next Plus system.

Deployment ID

A unique identifier for this system deployment, used for licensing and support.

Serial

(Applicable to On-Prem and offline installations only)

The license serial number assigned to this system.

License Usage Overview

This section displays licensed resources in a table with three columns:

  • Item — the type of licensed resource

  • Count — how many are currently configured or in use

  • Available in License — the maximum number allowed by the license

The table helps you quickly understand current usage versus licensed capacity.

Licensed Resources

Item

Description

User Count

Total number of active users defined in the system.

Station-Based Users

Users that are assigned to specific stations when station-based licensing is enabled.

Stations

Physical stations licenses

Production Entities

Machines, lines, or other production entities defined in the system.

Total Production Parameters

Machine or process parameters configured for monitoring, logging, or automation.

Understanding Station-Based Users

Station-based users are users that are explicitly assigned to one or more stations.

  • These users consume station-based licenses, not general user licenses.

  • The number of Station-based users can be very high, as long as Station licenses are present.

If station-based licensing is enabled, Station-Based users may log in only to preconfigured stations.

License Configuration (Read Only features - reserved for Next Plus)

These settings define how licensing limits are calculated and enforced.

Field

Description

Method

Defines how licensing is calculated (for example, Per User).

Enforcement Method

Determines how strictly license limits are enforced. Hard enforcement blocks usage beyond licensed limits.

Enforce Concurrent

Controls whether concurrent usage limits are enforced across users.

Expiration Settings (Read Only features - reserved for Next Plus)

These settings control license validity and expiration behavior.

Field

Description

Enforce Expiration Date

When enabled, the system enforces license expiration.

Enforce Expiration Date in Standalone Systems

Applies expiration enforcement to standalone (offline) installations as well.

Expiration Date

The date on which the license expires. After this date, system access may be restricted.

Common License Warnings and Behaviours

You may encounter the following situations related to licensing:

  • Usage exceeds license limits
Depending on the enforcement method, the system may block adding new users, stations, or production entities.

  • Station access denied
Occurs when station-based user limits are exceeded or users are not assigned to the required station.

  • License expired
When expiration enforcement is enabled, access to the system may be limited after the expiration date.

  • Missing or invalid serial
The system cannot validate the license until a valid serial number is entered.

Admin Tips

  • Regularly review license usage before onboarding new users or adding stations.

  • If you expect growth, verify license availability in advance to avoid enforcement blocks.

  • After updating a license or serial, confirm that usage values refresh correctly.

  • For unexpected restrictions, check both license limits and enforcement method.
