🧑‍🏭 How to Work with Machine Sessions in Next Plus

Written by Alex Merkin

What this is

Some stations are now connected to machines — using live data from the machine itself. That means your actions (like check-in or check-out) may be tracked automatically, and the system can show what the machine is doing in real-time.

🟢 When do I check in?

At the beginning of work on a machine:

  • Scan your work order

  • If needed, scan your part or serial

  • The system starts a session on the machine
(you’ll see it marked as “checked in”)

Sometimes, the system will check in automatically if the machine starts working and you’ve scanned.

🔴 When do I check out?

At the end of your job on that machine:

  • Press Check-Out

  • Or scan the item and select Finish

This closes the session and tells the system:

  • How much you finished

  • What machine it was on

  • How long it took

⚙️ What happens behind the scenes?

  • The system reads machine status (e.g. "Running", "Idle")

  • It knows when the machine is active, and how much was processed

  • It may open a form or log a report when the machine finishes

You don’t need to do anything special — just work as usual and follow your flow.

👀 Where can I see it?

  • Your current session will be visible in the Work Order screen

  • The machine status is shown as a small label (e.g. 🟢 Running)

  • Some stations may auto-update when the machine changes status

✅ Tips for Operators

  • Always scan your work order first

  • If your machine is connected, watch the status icon

  • If you’re asked to split quantity — just enter how many you’re doing

  • If something looks wrong (e.g. machine is off but says “Running”), let your supervisor know
